Week Beginning 6th January 2020

I hope you have all enjoyed the Christmas season and wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.  With the start of the new term just a few days away it's time to start looking forward to what the weeks ahead have in store.

Please find below an outline of what we will be covering in our first week back

English:
  • Learning about past and present tense and using it correctly in our writing
  • Sorting verbs into past and present tense
  • Learning about the features of a letter
  • Writing thank you letters for Christmas
  • In spellings this week, we will be concentrating on Key Words which were sent home in spelling books before the holidays.  Please remember to mark the words which you have practised
Maths:
  • Starting our unit of work all about division
  • Making equal groups by sharing and grouping
  • Dividing by 2 using the division symbol
  • Using a number line to solve division
  • Thinking about the relationship between multiplication and division
IPC:
  • We will be starting our new unit of work 'Time Detectives' which is all about finding out about the past
  • Learning about the role of an archaeologist and setting up our own archaeological dig and 'Time Museum' in the classroom
  • Learning how we can find out about the past
  • Looking at objects from the past and comparing them to objects of today
  • Please could children bring in an old object or picture of an old objects from home during the week.  Please do not send in anything valuable but we would love to keep them in our classroom for a few weeks and will ensure we take very good care of anything you send in.  If you have more than one object then please do feel free to bring in as many as you would like
Our class timetable remains the same this term with PE on Thursdays so please ensure all PE kits is brought to school before Thursday.  Homework will continue to be sent home on Fridays along with spellings.  Children should read daily at home and complete activities on Mathletics on a regular basis.
