Trip to Northallerton

Today the children have enjoyed a day trip to Northallerton.  We have looked at lots of different buildings, considering their change of use over time and the materials they were built from.  We have also learnt about different famous people who have visited, including Kings of England.  After lunch, we toured Northallerton Methodist Church to look for signs of the Christian faith.

Many thanks to David from the Northallerton Tourist Information Centre for providing an informative tour and also Mrs Izzi and Mrs Olivero-Chapman for accompanying us for the day.

Trip Reminder

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is our trip to Northallerton.

Children need to be in school uniform, have a rucksack so they can carry their lunch and snacks and will need their raincoats just in case!

Please refer to the letter that was emailed out for full details.

Thank you

Year 2 show off their artistic ability

The Year 2 children have been having lots of fun in IPC as they have been doing a range of different pieces of artwork.

Having completed pencil line drawings of local and world famous buildings, we have moved on to adding colour in a variety of ways from paints to pastels and water colours.  The children have also thought about applique and have had a go at creating their own collages
.
Here are a few pictures from our recent work.  Can you spot St Basil's Cathedral, Moscow, a castle and an African roundhouse?

Stop the Clock!

The Prep School children enjoyed a day yesterday exploring the newly launched School Standards. From curiosity to perseverance, thoughtfulness to self control, each class considered what the standard looked like in reality and how they could recognise these in others. Each class shared their work and thoughts on one of the display boards around school.

Year 2 thought about perseverance.  They identified times in their own lives when they have had to persevere.  We also thought about famous people including business people, authors, singers and athletes.  We even thought about fictional characters and how they displayed perseverance skills.

Here are a few pictures - can you spot Mo Farah and Prince Charming?!

Woodland Reminder

Just a quick reminder that Year 2 will be having Woodland School tomorrow (16th September).  Please make sure they have their full kit, including a waterproof as the weather is not looking very dry for tomorrow morning!
Thanks

Preston Park

Today the children in Year 1 and 2 have enjoyed a sunny trip to Preston Park.  The children had the chance to draw some pictures of the hall, thinking carefully about the shape of the building and the line detail of their work.
