Class assembly

Well done to all of the Year 1 and 2 children who put on a great class assembly this morning, helping us to think about how we can all be superheroes.

Woodland School

Just to let you all know that there will be no woodland school tomorrow due to assessments.
Please could children come to school in their uniform as usual and they will need to remember their full P.E. kit.
Woodland school will continue as normal after half term.

Class Assembly

Just a reminder that the Year 1 and 2 class assembly is next Wednesday (25th May) at 8.40am  You are all very welcome to attend.

Olympic Torches

The Year 2 children are enjoying our new IPC topic about the Olympics and have recently spent time thinking about the torch, the relay and the design for the Rio Olympics.  Following this they have had a go at making their own torches.  Here are a few pictures.  The rest of the photos will appear once they have been completed.

Stories

The children in Year 2 are currently studying a unit of work in English which looks at books by the author Anthony Browne.  Using the 'Gorilla' story as inspiration for both ideas and structure, the children have written their own stories.

Me and my Magic Bear

I love bears. I have millions of them. I play with them, I watch shows about them but I’ve never seen one come alive, just on TV. Mum and dad say they can’t but I don’t listen.

One night I woke up and heard a singing noise. I sat up and saw my bear waving at me. At first I was scared but then it looked cute.

It asked me if I wanted to go to the museum. I said of course, so we did. I saw lots of funny creatures and unexpected animals.

After I asked if we could go to the seaside because it looks beautiful when the sun goes down. The bear said yes that sounded like a great idea. I saw some magnificent crabs crawling around. We played and made a whole village out of sand castles using our hands.

After I asked if we could go to the park. The bear said that was a great idea. When we got to the park we danced with each other, it was so fun. Later we sat down and watched the sun go down I fell asleep and she carried me home.

Lloyd comes to life

I love ninjas. I like the coloured outfits they wear. My favourite ninja is the green ninja. I like playing ninjas with my friends.

In the night I heard a sword zing I wake up and see ninja. I felt scared. The ninja held my hand and he ran and jumped out the window.

Then the flying ship stopped and we landed on it. The flying ship takes us to LEGOLAND. We go on the Lego waterpark. Then we go to the movies and we watched the Lego movie. It was exciting. 

The flying ship picked us up then we got on the flying ship and it took us home.

Me and Rainbow Mermaid

I was in my cosy bed with my toy mermaid. I really like mermaids. I wouldn't hurt a mermaid. I watch them on TV and also I draw them. I woke up there was a present. I got out of bed and opened the present.

As soon as I took the wrapping paper off I went for a drink but when I turned around she was growing! I rubbed my eyes and she was nearly the same size as me. Then she said to me would you like to go on an adventure.

We went to the seaside by the sea and the sand. Then we went to the ice-cream parlour. I had lemon and the mermaid had bubblegum. I got it all around my mouth! I licked it off.

Next we went to the fair. I went on the bouncy trampoline. Then I went on the carousel. I liked the shiny horses.

After the fair we went to watch shooting stars. They were gorgeous, so sparkly too. It was getting late. I fell asleep so she carried me home and tucked me in. I snuggled up into her. I was home.

The night of Stomp

Oliver loved Stormtroopers. He read books about Star Wars, he watched all the Star Wars films and he painted pictures of Star Wars.

When Oliver went to sleep stomp came alive. Oliver heard shooting. Oliver got out of bed and saw Stomp. Stomp stopped shooting and asked him his name. Stomp don’t be silly. I'm joking said Stomp. Would you like to go to the toy shop asked Stomp yes please said Oliver.  So Stomp shot a special bullet to the fancy toy shop.

Stomp gave him some money to buy something. He bought a laser gun that shot real lasers. “Stomp would you like to go to a soft play” asked Oliver “Yes please” said Stomp so they did. Oliver gave Stomp some money so Stomp could go on the go-cart. They had lots of fun on the go-carts.

After that they went to the cinema. They watched Star Wars the force awakens. Stomp was very hungry, so they went to McDonalds. They had fish fingers and chips. Stomp fell asleep so they went home.

A night Theo will never forget

Theo was a boy who liked playing with Star Wars toys. He nearly had a whole collection but he just needed Darth Vader.

One night Theo rolled off the top bunk and bumped his head on a Darth Vader toy. WOW! Said Theo, the toy of my dreams. I’ve finally got the last toy to finish my collection. When he tried to pick it up it just ran away!

Suddenly it ran out of Theo’s room. It took him all the way to the park. It ran all around the park. It saw a long, tall slide. He ran as fast as he could to the slide. Theo ran after it, but it was too fast for Theo. He was getting fed up so he left it at the park.

Theo could hear Darth Vader complaining about his lightsaber, so Theo said shall we go to get something to eat, then we will get you a new lightsaber so it agreed with the deal. When they finished eating Theo got Darth Vader a new lightsaber and headed home and Theo put Darth Vader where he found him and went to bed.

Simon and the teddy

Simon was a very shy boy. His wish was to have a friend. Simon was given a teddy for his birthday, he called it Matthew. That night he heard a bear and he woke up. Outside was a huge eye. It was a great big bear called Matthew.

The bear said come with me and he did. The bear took him to the world of sweets. The world of sweets was full of sweets and they saw piles of them. The bear said come on we’ve got to go somewhere else like a jungle.

In the jungle was a portal which led to the world of Spiderman. When they got there Spiderman was on his sticky webs. Spiderman was shocked when he saw them because he didn’t know who they were.

Simon and the teddy were very hungry after all the places and had a sausage on a plate. When they got back home, Simon went to bed.

The Bear

Mr bear likes playing outside. He likes exploring in the ocean. Sometimes he’s scared of the dark.

One night Mr bear woke up. He saw a toy boat. He put it on his driveway. Two hours later he heard a noise. He looked out his window. A giant boat he saw because it grows in the water! Then he got his shoes and coat.

He went in his boat and drove to the beach. He drove his boat into the ocean! Mr bear put his diving suit on. He dived in the ocean! He collected lots of stuff, there was even treasure.

Then he drove towards the middle of the ocean. The lighthouse wasn’t working. Mr bear parked his boat. He went up the stairs and turned the switch on. Then he went down the stairs. They saw a bright light. The light helps them get back home.

When they got back home he puts it in his bedroom.

A good night

Kai loved Kylo Ren. He liked reading books about Star Wars because he saw Kylo Ren in them. He had a Kylo Ren Lego figure that when you push its head the lightsaber lights up. He also had a normal Lego figure. He had a Kylo Ren that was the same size as his baby sister. You press his belt and his lightsaber lights up and he talks but he had lots more.

When Kai woke up he saw Kylo Ren next to his bed. Kylo Ren said would you like to go to the Star Wars shop to see me in the shop. They went to the Star Wars shop and they saw Kylo Ren. Kai was very very happy, he saw every Star Wars character ever. He liked the style of Count Dooku. Then Kai and Kylo Ren went to LEGOLAND and saw Lego figures of Star Wars characters.

Kai was excited to go to America. In the night Kai and Kylo Ren went on a plane to America. It was fun on the plane. They watched films and watched Star Wars. They saw all of the characters. When they got to America they first went to their hotel and they went in their swimming pool. They were having fun. After the pool they got a taxi to the pet shop to get a cat. Outside the pet shop there was a crazy golf. They played crazy golf for a bit. When the cat was ready they didn’t know what colour it was. The cat was black with green eyes.

They got a different taxi to the hotel. When they got there they played on their I pad for five minutes then Kai said to Kylo Ren bye bye. Kylo Ren shrunk Kai smiled at Kylo Ren and then went to sleep.

Leah and the alive doll

Leah loved dolls. She watched them on TV and she drew pictures of them. Leah always wanted a doll one but her mum was too busy to buy her one. All Leah wanted was to have a doll.

One night Leah saw a doll sitting on her bed. She tucked her doll into bed and went off to brush her teeth. When she came back she saw a person sized doll. Leah was very happy because the doll could talk to her so now she would not be lonely. The doll said maybe we could go to the park. Leah had a very big smile on her face, because she was so excited!

When they got to the park, Leah wanted to go on the shiny slide so the doll pushed Leah down. After they had had fun at the park, the doll asked Leah if she wanted to go to the fantastic toy shop. When they got there the doll gave her a bit of money. She said she could buy something so she picked some beautiful clothes for her.

After Leah felt a bit hungry so the doll said Leah could go to a restaurant. Finally they got there and Leah ordered fish fingers and the doll ordered pizza.

Next they went to the greatest soft play. They had a lot of fun. Leah had so much fun she felt tired so they walked home together. When they got home Leah put the doll back in the doll house and went to sleep.

The next morning Leah woke up and smiled at the doll.
