House Quiz

On Friday 12 February, we held our inter house general knowledge quiz.  A child from each of years 2 to 6 was selected to represent their house, following a series of mini quiz activities during house meetings.  The final was very close and the results went down to the very last question.

Year 2 quiz team members included Ivy (Roseberry), Sam (Highcliffe), Kai (Wainstones) and Oliver (Stonetridge).

Well done to Roseberry who won the quiz, followed by Highcliffe in second place, Wainstones in third place and Stoneyridge in fourth place.

All of the children did extremely well - well done!

R.E. trip to All Saints' Church

Just before half term, the Year 1 and 2 children benefited from a trip to All Saints' Church.  This trip supported the R.E. curriculum and it was great to have first hand experience of visiting a church. Whilst the Year 1 children thought specifically about baptism, and the role of the font, the Year 2 children looked at the different areas of the church, the banners and the pieces of furniture.  The children considered the uses of the lectern, the font, the pulpit, the alter and the organ.  Having taken in their surroundings the children chose some of their favourite objects to sketch.  We will be using these sketches over the next couple of weeks during our R.E. lessons.

A big thank you to Sandra from All Saints' for giving us some specific information about the life of this church.

Curriculum Workshops

A big thank you to all of the parents who attended our curriculum workshops for English and Mathematics.  We hope that you found them useful and that the information provided will be beneficial in helping you to support your child's learning at home.

We have some paper copies of the presentations left for parents who were unable to attend, and we hope to be able to share the Power points on the blogs very soon.
