Olympic Torch

The Year 1 and 2 children were treated to a visit from Izzie Fenny who was selected from 28 thousand people to be one of the Olympic torch bearers for the London 2012 Olympics.  She had been selected for her fundraising efforts for the CF trust and the Butterwick hospice. She carried the torch in Ripon on the 19th June 2012. Izzie shared her special experience with the children giving lots of details about the day.  The children were also lucky to be able to hold the torch.

big thank you to Izzie for giving up her time to come and talk to our children.

Power boat fun!

Just before we broke up for half term, Scottish Power boating champion and Year 5 pupil Oban brought her boat into school to show the children.  Oban explained to the children how she controlled the boat, how she ensured her safety and her commitments to her training.  She also answered lots of questions from the Year 1 and 2 children.  Once of the highlights for the children was being allowed on to the boat.

This was a very exciting session, a big thank you to Oban and her parents for bringing the boat into school for us..
