Our first day back

Monday 27th April
It's been lovely to be back in touch with you all today as we start the Summer term.  I've received many emails telling me what you've all been up to and have been very impressed with all the similes you have been writing.  Harriet has made some delicious looking scones.  Well done, Harriet.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at 2pm for our class quiz during our Google meet.  Don't forget you'll need a piece of paper, a pencil and a big smile!

Spelling Challenge

26th April

Can you complete this spelling challenge to help you learn your spellings this week?

Week Beginning 27th April

Welcome back to the Summer term.  I hope you are all well and have managed to enjoy the beautiful weather we have had during the holidays.  I'm very much looking forward to the term ahead and supporting the children through our distance learning.  Please find below details of our activities for our first week back:

  • Describing turns using the language 'full turn', 'half turn', 'quarter turn', 'three  quarter turn', 'clockwise' and 'anticlockwise'

Story time with Miss Hall

24th April 2020

Starting on Monday 27th April I will be sharing a daily story time with the children.  We are going to be reading the story 'The Hen Who Wouldn't Give Up'.  Each day I will email the children a video of myself reading a chapter so we can enjoy a class story just like we do at school.  As it is a video, the children will be able to watch it at a time which is most convenient.  You might watch it as a break during the day or maybe save it for a bedtime story.  Watch out for the first chapter coming on Monday, I am joined by a very special guest.  All will be revealed on Monday!

Happy Easter

We've made it to the end of term!  It's not quite been the end of term we had hoped or planned but it's still been hugely successful.  The children have all achieved so much this term and have also adapted to our new ways of learning.  Thank you to all the parents who are supporting the children so well at home, I really do feel privileged to be able to work with you all.
I hope you all enjoy the Easter break.
Lessons will recommence bright and early on Monday 27th April.

Friday 3rd April

Task for the day
It's the end of another busy week and the start of the Easter holidays.  I'm sure everyone is feeling very tired so thought you might like to have a go at some drawing.  Just click on the link below to take part in a drawing masterclass with the children's author and illustrator Liz Million.  Don't forget to send me pictures of your finished drawings!

I'm looking forward to seeing you at our google meet at 2pm today.

Hard at work and having fun

It's been yet another busy day for the children and my email inbox is filling up with tales of some wonderful work.  I think everyone has enjoyed the PE lesson today and from looking at my computer I can see that many of you have enjoyed exploring the new app Sumdog.  If you have not had chance to check this out do take a look.  It's a lot of fun for the children and I can set tasks to support our learning.  I've also been having a look at our TTRockstars leader board and it's wonderful to see many children have been practising their times tables using this resource.  I wonder who will be on our leader board tomorrow?

Year 2 Google Meet

We will be having a Year 2 Google Meet tomorrow (Friday 3rd April) at 2pm.  It would be lovely to see you there.  I will send the invites out via email just prior to the meet.

Advance notice for resources WB 27th April

When we return to our learning after the Easter holidays, we are going to be busy cooking and also planting seeds in IPC.  In our first IPC session the children are going to be asked to cook something.  This can be anything at all and we are going to share pictures of what they have cooked with their friends.
Later in the week we are going to be carrying out a scientific investigation and will need the following resources: 4 empty jars or yogurt pots, kitchen roll, runner bean seeds.
Hopefully we will all be able to get our hands on these resources but of course please do just let me know if it is a problem, I can always change plans!
