Year 2 is AMAZING

21st November 2019

After reading the poem 'My Dad is AMAZING', we have been busy writing poems of our own.  As well as writing individual poems about people who are amazing to us,  we worked together to write a poem as a class.

Our New Class Friend

19th November 2019

Lotso Bear came to school last Friday for our Pyjama Party and he had so much fun with the wonderful children that he has asked us if he can stay with us for a little while.  He's got his own seat in the classroom and we are all enjoying showing him how hard we work and how much fun we have.  Last night he discovered all the money in our classroom and was trying to count it all up.  He found this a little tricky so wrote us a note to ask for our help.  Of course we happily helped him, although we did think that the next step for Lotso is to work on his handwriting!

Children in Need

15th November 2019

What a great time we had today all dressed up for Children in Need.  We raised lots of money too.  Mabel was the winner for our class in the wellie throwing competition and we all tried our best to guess the teachers when they were younger.  This was very tricky!  Our day finished with our pyjama party where we enjoyed sharing books together whilst being all cosy with our blankets and teddies.  Thank you to everyone who donated so generously.

Star of the Week

15th November 2019

Congratulations to Sidney who was crowned our Star of the Week this week.

Recipes

14th November 2019

In English this week we have been looking at non-fiction texts, specifically recipes.  We had fun following a recipe to make playdough.  It was even more fun as we had to 'purchase' the correct ingredients which were all in stock in Miss Hall's shop!  This linked in with our Maths work all about money.  In our 'Big Write' we then went on to write a recipe.  We included features of non-fiction texts such as 'headings', 'sub headings' and 'lists', as well as time-connectives 'first', 'next', 'after that' and 'finally' when writing the instructions.
