Community First Responder

Yesterday the children in Years 1 and 2 welcomed David Cundell into school to talk about his role as a community first responder in the Northallerton area.  This visit was a great way to start out new IPC topic 'Super Humans' as we found out lots of information about how the body works and what we can do when things go wrong.  The children were able to look through the bag which contains all of the equipment that community first responders carry and also look closely at some of the oxygen masks and tubes.  The children were really interested to find out about CPR and enjoyed having a go on a dummy.  They were also shown how a defibrillator works.  The children asked some great questions too.

Here are a few pictures to show you what the children were learning.

Rev Wilson's Visit

On Wednesday, the children welcomed Rev Sylvia Wilson into school to find out what it is like to do her job.  In R.E., we have been learning about different religious leaders and thinking about their jobs and responsibilities.  It was great that Rev Wilson was able to come along to talk about her work at St. John's Church, Egglescliffe and give us an insight into what her day to day working life is like.  The children asked some super questions including 'what is the best part of your job?'
