Louis Braille

The children have enjoyed learning about the French inventor Louis Braille, as part of their International 'Stop the Clock' day.  Having considered the reasons behind his invention, the children tried to create their own letters using egg boxes and golf balls to help them recreate letters from the Braille alphabet.  They then created some of their own 'secret messages' for their friends to decode.  The children were impressed with this form of communication although thought that it would be very difficult to learn how to read using their fingers!

Bonjour!

Yesterday the children in Year 2 enjoyed sharing a typical French breakfast as part of their international day.  They eagerly tucked in to croissants, baguettes and crepes whilst having a discussion about French culture and attractions that encouraged people to visit.
