What will we be learning this week?

English:

  • Revising features of a sentence including: nouns, adjectives, verbs and conjunstions
  • Learning all about adverbs
  • Using the suffix -ly to turn adjectives into adverbs eg. 'happy - happily', 'busy - busily', 'quick - quickly'
  • Sharing poems from the text 'The Works' by Paul Cookson and discussing our favourite words and phrases
  • Writing Senses Poems based on different landscapes eg, the beach, a forest, a theme park or a busy street.  Thinking about what we would be able to see, hear, touch and smell
  • Continue reading our new class text: 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' and answering comprehension and inference questions about what we have read
Maths:
  • Identifying odd and even numbers
  • Investigating odd and even numbers.  For example when we add 2 even numbers is the answer odd or even?  What about when we multiply 2 odd numbers? etc
  • Recalling facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables
  • Dividing by 5 and 10
IPC:
  • Continue to share and explore all the wonderful objects we have in our class 'History Museum'.  What do we know about the objects?  What would we like to find out about the objects?
  • How have objects changed over time?
  • Learning all about family trees and what they show
  • Sharing pictures and facts about people in our families and use this information to create a family tree.  Please can all children bring in pictures and information about themselves, parents and grandparents by Tuesday to support this activity.  Information such as place of birth, where they live or have lived, occupations etc would be wonderful.  If you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to contact me
Special Events this week:
  • Wednesday 15th January: Internet Safety Parent Workshop 5.00pm-6.00pm.  Please note that childcare is available in Tea Club for the duration of this workshop.  There will be no extra charge for this
