What will we be learning this week?

English:
  • Continuing our work all about 'tenses'
  • Identifying using and forming the following:
    • Simple Past Tense
    • Past Progressive Tense
    • Simple Present Tense
    • Present Progressive Tense
  • Studying performance poetry and discussing the layout of poems and what makes a good performance
  • Writing our own version of the poem 'One, two buckle my shoe' using rhyming words
  • Spelling pattern: /o/ spelt 'a' after a 'w' or 'qu': want, watch, wander, quantity, squash, quality, squabble, squad, quarrel
Maths:
  • Identifying non-unit fractions
  • Consolidating knowledge of equivalent fractions for one half and two quarters
  • Finding three quarters of a shape, quantity and number
  • Counting in fractions
  • Finding the difference between 2 2-digit numbers using a number line
IPC:
  • Sharing the story of Noah's Ark
  • Creating a display for the story
  • Reading the text 'Malala's Magic Pencil'
Special Events this week:
  • Wednesday 11th March: Parent's Evening.  I am looking forward to meeting you all to discuss your child's progress and what their next steps in their learning are.  I will be sharing end of Year 2 Expectations so you are aware of what is expected of your child by the end of the year.  If you have not already made an appointment please do so following the google drive link which was emailed to parents last week
  • Friday 13th March: Year 2 Mother's Day Class Assembly.  8.45am in the Prep School Hall.  You are all warmly invited to join us for this very special class event
  • Friday 13th March: Sport Relief.  Children are welcome to wear sports clothes or P.E. kit for the day
