What will we be learning this week?
This week is going to be a little different but very exciting as it is School STEM week. We will be enjoying lots of different activities all based around Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Monday:
- Children are welcome to come dressed as a STEM professional if they would like to. There is no pressure to do so and children can of course come in their normal school uniform if they wish
- E-Safety and how to keep ourselves safe online
- Pre-Prep STEM activity carousel based on the story 'The Three Little Pigs'. Can we build houses out of bricks, straw and wood which stand up to the force of the big bad wolf?
- Building cup towers challenge. Working as a team who can build the tallest tower out of paper cups?
- STEM professionals careers fair. We will have the opportunity to meet a variety of STEM professionals and find out all about what they do
Tuesday:
- Pre-Prep STEM activity carousel. After building houses for 'The Three Little Pigs' yesterday, can we build structures for the garden? Maybe swings, slides etc
- Matheltics: let's see if everyone can earn a certificate this week
- We will be having our music lesson with Mrs Connor as usual
Wednesday:
- House STEM Art Activity. We will be working with other children from across the Prep School in our house groups to produce some wonderful art. Children in Woodside will be working on 'Bridges', Victoria: Tessellation Cubes and Cleveland: The Angel of the North
- Coding and Programming Activities
Thursday:
- Mathletics
- Completing our Unit of Work in Maths all about Fractions
- Pre-Prep STEM carousel
- Creating a marble run using paper plate and straws
Friday:
- Maths Puzzle Day in the morning
- Forest School in the afternoon, We will carry on the STEM theme and be constructing birds nests. Children will need their P.E. kits, wellies and school coats in school.
