What will we be learning this week?

English:
  • Punctuating sentences correctly with capital letters and full stops
  • Learning when to use capital letters in the middle of sentences for names, places and days of the week
  • Looking at non-fiction texts and discussing their form and layout before creating some of our own non-fiction texts about healthy eating in our Big Write
  • Continue reading our class text 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'
  • Homophone of the week: 'buy' and 'bye'.  Can we use these words correctly in the context of a sentence?
Maths:
  • Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.  When counting in 10s to 100 we will be starting at different numbers eg. 33, 21 etc
  • Showing 2 digit numbers as 10s and 1s eg. 34 as 3 tens and 4 ones
  • Making different 2 digit numbers using 3 single digit number cards.  Eg. using the cards 3, 6, 8 we could make the numbers 36, 38, 63, 68 etc.  What is the biggest number we can make?  What is the smallest number we can make?  Can we show this using 10s and 1s.  Explaining the more 10s the bigger the number
IPC:
  • Completing our Entry Point Challenges including can we find our way along a string trail? Back to back instructions for making a lego model and identifying sounds
  • Knowledge Harvest: how many parts of the human body can we name and label?  Can we name of 5 main senses?
  • Art task: look at a range of optical art and create our own piece of optical art
Special events this week:
  • Monday 9th: clubs and activities begin
  • Thursday 12th: Roald Dahl Day: children are welcome to come dressed as a character.
