What will we be learning this week?

English
  • Phonics: revising sound /a/ spelt 'a_e', 'ai' and 'ay'
  • Using co-ordinating conjunctions 'so', 'and', 'but and 'or' in our writing
  • Sharing the story 'Bear and the Piano' and using this as a basis for our own writing.  What other animal could play a different instrument?
  • Writing a list for attributes for the Bear in the story, remembering to use commas for a list
Maths
  • Adding up coins to find the total, starting with pence then pounds
  • Matching coins and notes to totals
IPC
  • Entry Point for our new IPC Unit: 'Pushes and Pulls'.  Play tug of war, were we only pulling?  What were we doing with our feet?
  • Exploring pushes and pulls using a range of equipment including outdoor climbing equipment
Forest School
  • Year 2 will be participating in Forest School sessions every Friday afternoon this half term.  Children will need to bring in a pair of wellies and their school tracksuit.  It is also advisable to bring hats and gloves as the weather turns colder as well as their school outdoor waterproof coat.
Special Events this week:
  • Monday 4th: Author visit, Andy Stanton
  • Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge Week. During the week, the children will be participating in this in their Computer Lesson with Miss Lockerbie
